The Science Behind Your Hydration

Not all drinks hydrate equally. SupaHydrate uses the Beverage Hydration Index (BHI) to show you exactly how each beverage affects your hydration.

What is the Beverage Hydration Index?

The BHI measures how effectively different beverages hydrate your body compared to plain water. Based on peer-reviewed research from Loughborough University (UK), published in the British Journal of Nutrition.

How It Works

Each beverage has a hydration factor based on its composition. Factors above 1.0 mean better hydration retention than water, while factors below 1.0 indicate reduced effectiveness due to caffeine or other compounds.

Based on Scientific Research

BHI values are based on Maughan et al. (2016) research published in the British Journal of Nutrition. The study measured fluid retention over 4 hours after consuming different beverages.
